Calligraphy Workshop with Tempa Dukte Lama
At Olmo Ling Center, Pittsburgh, PASat Aug 21st, 9:30am-5pm with lunch break
We will joyfully play with colors and meditative calligraphy. We will learn some Tibetan characters and the skill of calligraphy brush work. At the end of the day, participants can take home their own calligraphy creations.

Contemplative healing practices recognize that we are all gifted with the primordial wisdom of healing. In the Tibetan Bon tradition, practices to help us connect with the innate potential of healing have been done for thousands of years. Join us for this Retreat in which Tempa Lama will teach the traditional Bon healing practice of Sidpa Gyalmo, the chief protector of the Bon tradition.
Celebrate Vesak with us!
Vesak is the celebration of the Siddhartha Gautama Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and Parinirvana over 2,500 years ago. We will celebrate Vesak together with groups from different Buddhist traditions. Olmo Ling will contribute an Aspirational Prayer for Peace and Prosperity (recording and text here ).
Everyone is welcome to this multi-traditional Buddhist event and make a wish for world peace.

There will be activities on the lawn for all ages- Introduction to the day and of the life of Shakyamuni Buddha
- Chanting praises for the Buddha from different Buddhist groups in different languages
- Meditation instruction and contemplation for world peace
- Opportunity to meet and learn about various Buddhist traditions and cultures
- Dedication of merit and refreshments
At 6:30 everyone is invited to reconvene at Point Park to pour the blessed water into the three rivers wishing peace for the whole world.
This Event is free. Donations to the Buddhist Society of Pittsburgh are welcome.
Public Blessing with His Holiness of Bon Gyalwa Menri Trizin The 33rd Abbot of Menri
His Holiness 33rd Menri Trizin the spiritual head of the Bon tradition of Tibet will be visiting the US. He will give a public blessing and the transmission of the Three Heart Mantras of Bon in New York on Sunday May 2. This is a very special opportunity to meet the highest lama of the Tibetan Bon tradition.
This event is hosted by Bon Shen Ling, directed by Geshe Chongtul Rinpoche. Registration and more information

We are excited that Menri Ponlob Rinpoche, the head teacher of Menri monastery will give these special teachings. Rinpoche will teach the second phase of the oral Dzogchen tradition of Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyud, called Khregs Chod. This practice helps us cut through the layers of karmic traces that obscure the pure, awakened nature of our mind.
To attend this program, it is not necessary to have attended last year’s teachings with Ponlob Rinpoche.

Tempa Lama will teach the three heart mantras of Bon. These mantras are powerful practices to awaken our mind to its innate potential of purity, non-dual awareness, and healing. Each of these mantras can be practiced as a complete path to liberation; the mantras are also part of the Bon Ngondro or preliminary practices that open our mind and heart toward the higher practices of Tantra and Dzogchen.

Join us for this special workshop. For thousands of years, the Tibetan spiritual traditions have cultivated practices to offer spiritual support to the dying and to prepare for a peaceful and conscious death. This workshop and training program brings together Tibetan lamas Tempa Dukte Lama and Geshe Chongtul Rinpoche, Zen master and medical anthropologist Roshi Joan Halifax, PhD., and clinical educator Susan Hunt, MD. The workshop faculty will teach practices to support the dying and present compassionate care from a spiritual perspective. The teachings invite us to explore the meaning of death in our lives and to develop the strength to keep our heart and mind free from fear and judgment.
This workshop is for all who would like to look deeply into the meaning of death and dying within the framework of a spiritual path. The workshop is suited for medical professionals, psychologists and social workers working with dying and illness and those who are ill. Psychologists and social workers can earn 17 continuing education (CE) credits.
