Join us to consecrate the two Olmo Ling Stupas with Tempa Lama

Tuesday, April 22, 2014, 7-8:15pm, Olmo Ling, 1101 Greenfield Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15217

Join us for this historic celebration as we consecrate the two Olmo Ling Stupas with Tempa Lama. The two Stupas represent the mind of the Awakened One. Their arrival and consecration is a major milestone in our development. With the consecration of the two Stupas we now have all three representations of the Awakened One at our temple – the body of the Awakened One (statues), the speech of the Awakened One (the Bon Canon) and the mind of the Awakened One (the Stupas). All are warmly welcome to this special celebration – including children and friends.

The awakened mind which is represented by the Stupas is pure, unconditioned, and beyond words and concepts. The blessing of the Stupas will reach out to the surrounding community and our country, promoting wisdom and spiritual understanding, harmony, longevity, and prosperity.

The making of the two Olmo Ling Stupas

During the historic second visit of His Holiness 33rd Menri Trizin to Olmo Ling temple this past May, His Holiness talked about the special blessing that our temple receives from the presence of the statues and the Bon Canon. The Bon Canon, consisting of the direct teaching of the Awakened One Tonpa Shenrab (Kangyur) and the later commentary (Tengyur), is a representation of the speech of the Awakened One. The statues represent the body of the Awakened One and the Bon Canon represents the speech of the Awakened One. The third element, the expression of the mind of the Awakened One, is the Stupa. His Holiness especially encouraged Tempa Lama and the community to generate the energy and funding to have two small Stupas built and brought to Olmo Ling so that we will also have a representation of the awakened mind in our temple.

The two 26” Stupas were created for us in Nepal – scroll down to see pictures of the Stupa-making process!
