Meditation Instructors’ Training Part II

With Tempa Dukte Lama

Saturday August 25, 9:30am-5pm, Sunday August 26, 10am-1pm
Olmo Ling Bon Center, 1101 Greenfield Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15217

This Workshop is for those who wish to become a meditation instructor to help others. It is intended for people who have practiced meditation for a while. To attend, it is not necessary to have attended the Instructors’ Training Part I taught during 2011 (although this is helpful).

The objective of this Workshop is to train those who would like to be able to offer meditation instructions to help others, including through the Olmo Ling Compassionate Outreach programs (such as the Death and Dying project and the Prison Project). This Retreat is also an opportunity to deepen and stabilize your own meditation practice by exploring the stages of concentration on the path of Calm Abiding Meditation in great detail, and deepening your understanding of the relationship of Calm Abiding with Insight Meditation.

The teachings will focus on the nine successive stages of Calm Abiding Meditation according to the Tibetan Bon tradition. Tempa Lama will give detailed explanations of the meditative experience during each stage and how our progression along this path can help us stabilize our mind and feelings during each situation of our lives. He will also explain the relationship of Calm Abiding Meditation and Insight Meditation. Using discussion and dialogue, we will explore how we can deepen and expand our practice at each stage and how we can help others at the various stages of meditation practice.

Training costs through Tues. August 14: $108 (Olmo Ling members), $120 (non-members). From Wed. August 15: $125 (members), $137 (non-members).
