For thousands of years, the Tibetan spiritual traditions have cultivated practices to offer spiritual support to the dying and to prepare for a peaceful and conscious death. The Bon teachings on death and dying are central to the Path of Liberation as they enable us to attain liberation at the time of death or choose a beneficial rebirth. The Bon teachings on death and dying also encompass ways to offer spiritual and compassionate support to the dying, to family and loved ones, and to those who are ill.

In this teaching, Tempa Lama will introduce the Bon teachings on death and dying and teach the practice of Ngo Trod or conscious dying. Ngo Trod is the practice of becoming familiar with the transition at the time of death including the dissolution of the elements, developing openness and trust toward the process of dying, and letting go of fear and attachments. He will also teach practices to help us recognize the visions occurring at the time of death and use that moment to liberate ourselves into the true nature of the mind. The Ngo Trod teachings offer a powerful skillful means to assist those who are dying as well as their family members. They enable us to help the dying connect deeply with their own faith and draw strength and inner peace from their spiritual practice and teachers.

Participants will learn about:
  • The Bon teachings on death and dying
  • Conscious dying
  • How we can offer compassionate care and spiritual guidance to support those who are dying
Participants will receive:
  • Recordings of Each Teaching
  • Two (2) Necessary Handouts:
       – The Nine Contemplations on Death
       – Conscious dying instructions with dissolution of the five elements

We want the Bon teachings to be accessible to everyone independent of financial means. Therefore, we offer a lower fee option and full scholarship for anyone facing economic challenges.

If you are able to afford one of the higher fee options, we would greatly appreciate it.

Your support over the next several months will help us cover the monthly mortgage until we have completed renovations of the upper two floors and are able to rent out this space. We plan to complete renovations by early summer.
