In this weekend’s teaching, Tempa Dukte Lama will explain the Noble Eightfold Path as taught by the Awakened One of Bon, Tonpa Shenrab. The Noble Eightfold Path is the path that leads to freedom from suffering. It consists of the threefold training in wisdom, conduct, and mind through the practices of wholesome view, thought, speech, action, livelihood, effort, mindfulness, and concentration. Wholesome views and thoughts are training in wisdom. They are wisdom and insight, as well as the path itself. Through wholesome speech, action, livelihood, and effort we manifest wholesome conduct. Through this training, we make the wellbeing of others our priority and manifest true love and compassion. Finally, we train the mind through wholesome mindfulness and concentration. Wholesome mindfulness enables us to become familiar with the true nature of reality. Through wholesome concentration, we abide single-pointedly in the recognition of the true nature of reality.
