Our view underlies our practice and its fruition in the form of realization. In this special teaching, brothers Tempa Lama and Geshe Tsewang Ngodup will explain the view of each of the three Bon Paths of Liberation – Dzogchen, Tantra, and Sutra, as well as the view of the causal ways of Bon.

A clearer understanding of the view of Dzogchen shines a light on how we can truly leave things as they are and abide in the natural state. Understanding the view of Tantra gives our deity practice much more clarity, stability, and energy. It helps us access compassion and wisdom through generation and completion stage. Understanding the view of Sutra helps us grow deep appreciation of the journey of compassionate beings and the fundamental nature of the mind of awakening. Finally, the practices of divination and astrology, rituals for the deceased, and many other powerful Bon rituals have been taught and transmitted since many thousands of years ago and are unique to Bon.

In this workshop, brothers Tempa Dukte Lama and Geshe Tsewang Ngodup Rinpoche will explain how we pursue the Bon spiritual path. They will explain the view, conduct, and meditation practice of each of the Nine Ways of Bon. This will be of great value and benefit for those who wish to gain a deeper understanding of Bon practice. These days many teachings on practicing Bon Tantra and Dzogchen are offered. To be truly beneficial, Tantric and Dzogchen practices need to be supported by a strong understanding of the view and how it is applied in our conduct and meditation.

The Nine Ways of Bon

1. The Way of the Shen of Prediction
2. The Way of the Shen of the Visual World
3. The Way of the Shen of Magic Power
4. The Way of the Shen of Existence
5. The Way of the Lay Practitioner
6. The Way of Monastic Discipline
7. The Way of the White A: Transformation through Generation Stage
8. The Way of the Primordial Shen: Transformation through Completion Stage
9. The Supreme Way of Dzogchen (Self-liberation)

Tempa Lama recommends that this teaching will be of great benefit to build a foundational understanding for all the Bon teachings offered later this year.

On the final day of teaching, January 27th, we will have a special session for discussing questions with Tempa Dukte Lama. We will offer this as a Zoom meeting so participants will be able to turn on their cameras if they are comfortable doing so. Translators will be available.
